Relax and Renew Retreat

I am so pleased to be offering Here and Now’s first retreat on April 18-19, 2020. I have attended a number of retreats over the years and have chosen a venue and put together a schedule of activities based upon my what I have enjoyed on retreats.

Here is what you can expect at the Relax and Renew Retreat:

A Beautiful Setting: The Gaia Wellness Retreat is located on a small lake, amidst 70 acres of old and new growth forest.

Good Food: All food is vegetarian, prepared fresh using local ingredients whenever possible. I had a meal there in the spring, and it was divine. You will be invited to each lunch and breakfast in a mindful way that will allow you to fully appreciate the various flavours and textures.

Connection with Nature: A mindful walk through the forest will be offered. You will be prompted to fully engage your senses to notice and appreciate the natural surroundings. You will also have free time during which you are welcome to walk on the forest trails or sit quietly by the lake.

Yoga: During the retreat, you will have the opportunity (but not the obligation!) to participate in two 90-minute Hatha Yoga sessions and one 90-minute Restorative Yoga session.

Mindfulness Practices: You are invited to participate in an hour of mindfulness practices (mindful movements, awareness of breath and body scan) on Sunday morning.

Sleep: Activities are finished as of 9 p.m. on Saturday and do not commence again until 7 a.m. on Sunday, allowing for a good night’s sleep. Accommodations are shared, in rooms in the main lodge or in cabins.

Free Time: All activities are optional. You can join in as much or as little as you like. However, even if you join in on every activity, you will still have time to do as you wish. You can spend your free time wandering the beautiful grounds, reading, writing or anything else your heart desires.

Quiet: The retreat centre is located in a quiet location, and you will be invited to set aside your phone and all other electronic devices. Disconnecting from the outside world will allow you to foster a deeper connection with yourself, your natural surroundings and others on the retreat.

Convenience: The retreat centre is only a 45-minute drive from downtown Ottawa, so you will not waste precious time on the commute.

I hope you will join me for this amazing weekend of relaxation and renewal or consider giving it as a thoughtful gift for someone who could use some quiet time to reconnect with themselves.
